Frequently Asked Questions

I am an Osteopathic (D.O.) applicant; can I turn in COMLEX scores instead of USMLE?
We accept both COMLEX and USMLE scores.
Do you provide housing for visiting applicants?
If an applicant cannot afford to pay for housing when interviewing at SFMR, we are happy to ask residents or faculty to volunteer their homes for an overnight stay.
Do you offer international rotations?

We currently have an arrangement with Camp Hope in Quito, Ecuador where residents will spend two weeks of an international rotation combined with one week of travel medicine. Other international electives can be arranged, and many of our residents have done so, including rotations in Kenya, India, the Dominican Republic, Ireland, Honduras, Rwanda and Peru, for example.

Where do most residents live and do they buy or rent housing?
This depends on each individual’s personal circumstances and plans for the future. Currently approximately 1/3 of our residents purchased homes and 2/3 rent. Most live within a 5-15 mile radius of the clinic.
Do you hire outside of the NRMP Match?
No, applications for PGYI positions are only accepted via ERAS.
