Specialty/Interest Area: OB, Underserved Medicine
How did your time at Swedish Family Medicine Residency help you? SFMR offered great practice with care of complicated medical and social cases in the hospital and the clinic. I also appreciated the direct communication with community based specialists. I learned a lot from our excellent attending role models, and the exposure to multiple hospital systems helped grow my perspective as a physician within the medical system.

Kara Leach, MD

Graduation Year: 2014

Specialty/Interest Area: Broad-spectrum Care, Underserved, Women’s Health
How did your time at Swedish Family Medicine Residency help you? SFMR provided me excellent, supportive training in full-spectrum medicine, which prepared me well to work with whatever walks in the door, including highly complex patients with multiple disease processes complicated by social and/or psychological challenges. Loved the faculty, staff, and fellow residents (and miss them!)

Patrick Carlsen Smith, MD

Graduation Year: 2013

Specialty/Interest Area: Full-spectrum Family Medicine, Rural area, Surgical Obstetrics
How did your time at Swedish Family Medicine Residency help you? My training at Swedish family medicine was incredible. It has fully prepared me to be able to practice full spectrum family medicine in a rural setting. Swedish family prepares you well for inpatient care, outpatient medicine, preventive care, obstetrics, and practice management. I look back on my time at Swedish, and very impressed by how we were able to practice high-quality medicine, yet laid-back and collegial feel. It was truly a wonderful experience.

Brieanna Mikel Cross Seefeldt, DO

Graduation Year: 2012

Specialty/Interest Area: Family Medicine, Osteopathy, Obstetrics, Pediatrics, and Integrative Medicine
How did your time at Swedish Family Medicine Residency help you? I learned a lot from the faculty. They are approachable, up to date on evidence and helped me shape my own doctoring style. The difficulty of the program at times helped prepare me for the challenges that come in the “real world” of medicine and guided my choice in practice setting and spectrum. I am confident in my skills as a physician thanks to my time at SFMR.

Jeff Foster, DO

Graduation Year: 2011

Specialty/Interest Area: Outpatient Family Medicine
How did your time at Swedish Family Medicine Residency help you? SFMR provided a great foundation in both inpatient and outpatient family medicine and I feel I was well prepared to start my practice after graduation. The real strength of SFMR is the outstanding people. The preceptors and staff are wonderful. I feel lucky to have been associated with them and to call them mentors and friends.

Miriam Grace Sparkman Reece, MD

Graduation Year: 2011

Specialty/Interest Area: Family Medicine, with CAQSM (sports medicine certification after fellowship), pediatrics, women’s health
How did your time at Swedish Family Medicine Residency help you? My residency at SFMR helped me to refine my self learning abilities which aid me every day, and taught me volumes about connecting with patients. I graduated with a solid knowledge base with which to start my career and grow as a provider.

Cassi Workman, MD

Graduation Year: 2010

Specialty/Interest Area: Family Medicine
How did your time at Swedish Family Medicine Residency help you? My time at Swedish Family Medicine was huge in preparing me for practice. SFMR focuses on the whole health of the patient, in any location. Even though I do not practice hospital medicine, I feel I have been well prepared to further manage patients as they are discharged from the hospital, sent to specialists, and in keeping them out of the hospital. Also, I love that I was able to stay in the area after residency as I have developed great relationships with specialists and feel I can call to ask questions or send patients to people I am comfortable with. My training was amazing, and I have rarely encountered a problem I was unable to handle because of the great training at SFMR.

Stacia Lynn Sams, MD

Graduation Year: 2007

Specialty/Interest Area: Family Medicine
Current Position: I am currently living in Oklahoma City, OK and working part-time at an urgent care. Prior to this I was in private practice in Denver for 7 years, many of those with inpatient and outpatient experience. Though I miss the relationships that I formed with patients, I am loving the freedom that comes with working a shift and going home. I also enjoy the variety that comes with urgent care work.
How did your time at Swedish Family Medicine Residency help you? SFMR gave me the broad-based training to enable me to practice confidently in many different areas of Family Medicine. The faculty not only trained me, but in many cases became my friends and continue to be a source of knowledge and support even this long after finishing the program. I love SFMR!

Daniel Jones, MD

Graduation Year: 2007

Specialty/Interest Area: Family Medicine
How did your time at Swedish Family Medicine Residency help you? The time I spent at Swedish Family Medicine Residency prepared me very well for outpatient practice. The variety of skills learned both in the clinic and in the hospital have served me well in caring for both routine and complex patients. Perhaps the most important resource that Swedish has to offer is the incredible experience of the attending physicians and staff. During my tenure as a resident, chief, and attending at SFMR I was able to observe and absorb medical, interpersonal, and leadership skills which I now use on a daily basis.
